Sheriff’s Work Program
The Sheriff’s Work Program is an alternative to jail for low-risk, non-violent offenders sentenced to 90 days or less. The participants report to the Sheriff’s Work Program office in the morning, work during the day, then go home at night. Due to a recent change in the law as of 1/1/15, you are only required to serve half of your sentence (example: if you receive 60 days in jail as a penalty, and you qualify for the work program, you only serve 30 days in the sheriff’s work program). You are not required to do the time consecutively, and usually do 1-2 days a week, thus you can do the Sheriff’s Work Program around your regular work schedule, and will not lose your job.
